About Dr Irina Gramer

Dr Irina Gramer is a European Specialist in Veterinary Oncology (ECVIM-CA) dedicated to helping pets with cancer receive thoughtful, evidence-based and personalised care. Combining specialist expertise with genuine compassion, she works alongside families and veterinarians to make complex cancer care accessible, practical and tailored to every individual patient.

After graduating from Justus-Liebig University in Giessen, Germany, in 2010, Irina completed a doctoral thesis investigating the molecular genetics of canine cancer before undertaking specialist oncology training in the United Kingdom. She completed an oncology internship followed by a residency at the University of Liverpool and became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology) in 2017.

Throughout her career, Irina has worked across both leading referral hospitals and academia, including heading the Oncology Service at the Royal Veterinary College in London. Since relocating to Australia with her family in 2022, she has continued to advance specialist cancer care while building innovative services that support both veterinary professionals and pet owners.

Alongside traditional oncology treatments, she has a strong interest in personalised cancer care, including molecular tumour profiling, targeted therapies and immunotherapy. By integrating the latest advances in veterinary oncology into everyday clinical practice, she helps identify treatment options that are tailored to each patient's disease and each family's goals.

Irina is also passionate about sharing knowledge. She founded Oncology Camp, co-founded Melbourne VETWorks, serves as Chair of the ECVIM Education Committee, and has contributed extensively to international veterinary education through lectures, publications and textbook chapters. This ongoing involvement ensures she remains at the forefront of advances in veterinary oncology and brings the latest evidence directly into the care of her patients.

Whether providing specialist consultations, telehealth advice, second opinions, treatment planning, molecular sequencing or immunotherapy services, Irina's goal is always the same: to empower families and veterinarians with clear, balanced recommendations that deliver the best possible outcomes while respecting quality of life.

Outside of work, Irina enjoys spending time with her partner and three boys, exploring the outdoors and making the most of family adventures.
